Patricia Flanagan is an artist and academic who has been exhibiting internationally since the mid 1990’s and is represented in private and public collections in Australia, Ireland, Germany, Italy and China. She is the winner of four CASP funded Public Art commissions, a UGCTD Grant to develop PIPA; representative for Oceania at the Tournai Contemporary Textiles Biennial Belgium; recipient of the Australian Postgraduate Scholarship Award, winner of The Max Fabre Foundation Award for Environmental Awareness and a 2015 finalist for the Neuton-John Award for Innovation and Creativity.
She completed a Doctorate of Philosophy (Public Art) University of Newcastle Australia; Master of Art (Visual Art) Bauhaus University Weimar; Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) and Associate Diploma awarded with honours (Fashion Design).
Dr. Flanagan established the Wearables Lab at the Academy of Visual Art at Hong Kong Baptist University in 2009. She currently works as a Lecturer for the University of New South Wales in the Faculty of Art and Design. She is on the programming committees for: Design, User Experience and Usability (DUXU) in the context of Human Computer Interaction International (HCII) where she chairs a panel session on Haptic Interfaces and Wearable computing; Conference on Advanced Collaborative Networks, Systems and Applications (COLLA) and; IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies - (ICALT). She is the founder of ongoing experimental research initiatives: the Peripatetic Institute for Praxiology and Anthropology (since 2011) and the Haptic InterFace Project (since 2012).
