School planning platform takes out first prize in UNSW Founders Pitch Night

The 9th of October saw our very last Pitch Night of the year held at the MCIC; night full of energy, enthusiasm and lots of great ideas! 12 brave teams pitched for their chance to win $1000 to help them transform their business idea into reality.

Some of the ideas pitched included: platforms to improve the teaching experience, apps utilising AR to help people choose their makeup, breakthroughs in solar energy technology and even an app to help you prevent missing your flight!

First prize, and winner of the $1000 prize went to ‘DirectEdu’; a platform for teachers designed to help them browse, organise and book excursions, or workshops, for their students in accordance to their school’s curriculum, without any complications, delays or excessive paperwork.

The People’s Choice Award winner was ‘Green Sphere’. Taking home the $250 prize, they explored developing ‘Precious Plastics’, a mechanism to transform plastics, like milk bottles, into practical objects like bins, plant pots, etc. to better managing the recycling and upcycling process of single use plastics.

We congratulate everybody who pitched and to those who came as supporters. Great job everyone!
