UNSW Founders named first runner up in Asia Pacific Triple E Awards

| 13 Jan 2020

UNSW Founders are proud to announce being awarded First Runner Up at the 2019 Asia Pacific Triple E Awards for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Support of the Year.

The Triple E Awards are a global recognition of efforts towards the quest for entrepreneurship and engagement in higher education.

Implemented regionally, the Triple E Awards aim to foster change in universities and to emphasise their role in their communities and ecosystems.

The finals ceremony, which took place in Kochi, India on 10 January 2020, showcased some of the most innovative and inspiring initiatives and individuals who have left an indelible mark on the lives of students, colleagues, children and citizens.

The ceremony was also held in conjunction with the International Conference on Sustainable Globalization bringing together academics, administration and industry committed towards a sustainable world.

All entries into each category underwent a rigorous application and selection process, with an external panel of reviewers – entrepreneurship and innovation experts from Asia-Pacific region – reviewing each applicant on the basis of strict list of criteria.

With over 300 entries, and 60 finalists from 17 countries, Triple E Awards are a testament to the fact that universities are gaining more prominence and more actively embracing their role in empowering entrepreneurship.

UNSW Founders would like to send a huge congratulations to all the winners and finalists, particularly our Australian peers, with whom it was an honour to collectively represent Australia’s achievements within this space.

“It was an honour to represent UNSW at the awards. On more than one occasion, when I introduce myself as from UNSW, the immediate response is overwhelmingly positive, which is a testament to the amazing founders and startups coming out of the program.”  Tash Jamieson, Global Founders Program Manager, UNSW Founders.

Since its inception in 2018, UNSW Founders has reached 20,000+ students in entrepreneurial skill building, has seen 39 teams go through its flagship 10x Accelerator (75% raised investment, 24 signed significant deals, 13 raised grants) and boasts a rate of 43% of startups founded by women.
